Jaw Crusher
Product Overview
A jaw crusher is a primary crushing machine that reduces run-of-mine (ROM) ore and hard rock through compression between a fixed jaw plate and a moving jaw plate. It is commonly used in mining, quarrying, and mineral processing plants to reduce feed material to a size suitable for downstream crushing, grinding, or other processing operations.
For gold mining and hard-rock applications, jaw crusher selection depends on feed opening dimensions, maximum feed size, material compressive strength, abrasiveness, required discharge size, and target throughput. Materials such as gold-bearing quartz, basalt, copper ore, and other hard rocks should be evaluated against the operating limits of the selected model.
The crusher assembly typically includes a mainframe, fixed and moving jaw plates, an eccentric shaft, a toggle mechanism, a drive system, and associated bearings and adjustment components. Specific configurations, including hydraulic discharge setting adjustment and specialized drive options, depend on the selected model.
Reinforced Mainframe
The mainframe supports the crushing assembly and transfers operating loads to the equipment foundation. Frame construction, plate thickness, reinforcement design, welding procedures, and post-weld heat treatment are executed in accordance with approved manufacturing and production specifications.
Eccentric Shaft and Drive Assembly
The eccentric shaft drives the moving jaw through the crusher's mechanical linkage. Machined from heavy-duty forged alloy steel, the shaft undergoes ultrasonic testing for internal integrity, precision grinding, and heat treatment to ensure reliable rotational dynamics under heavy radial loads.
Wear-Resistant Jaw Plates
Fixed and moving jaw plates are critical wear components that contact the feed material during crushing. Cast in high-manganese steel grades (such as ASTM A128 Grade C12Mn or Mn22), the material work-hardens under continuous impact, providing extended wear intervals when processing abrasive gold-bearing quartz veins and hard country rock.
Discharge Setting Adjustment
The closed-side setting (CSS) influences the discharge opening and the resulting product size distribution. The adjustment mechanism utilizes wedge-based hydraulic cylinders, allowing operators to alter discharge openings safely and reduce adjustment downtime from hours to minutes.
Toggle Mechanism and Overload Considerations
The toggle mechanism forms part of the jaw crusher's operating linkage. A replaceable cast-iron or engineered steel toggle plate acts as a sacrificial mechanical fuse, shearing instantly if uncrushable tramp metal enters the crushing chamber. This protects the mainframe, shaft, and bearings from catastrophic structural damage.
Applications
Gold Mining Operations
Primary size reduction of run-of-mine (ROM) gold-bearing quartz ore before downstream secondary cone crushing, semi-autogenous grinding (SAG), or ball milling circuits.
Open-Pit and Underground Hard-Rock Mining
Crushing abrasive copper, iron, nickel, and polymetallic ores prior to downstream mineral concentration, flotation, or heap leaching processes.
Aggregate Quarries
Primary crushing of blasted hard rock, including granite, basalt, diabase, and limestone for civil infrastructure and construction aggregates.
Industrial Mineral Processing
Processing raw industrial minerals, including limestone, gypsum, and silica-rich rock, where material characteristics and required product size match equipment parameters.

Plate Cutting & Preparation
Heavy steel plates up to 120 mm thickness are processed using CNC plasma and laser cutting equipment to ensure tight dimensional tolerances prior to assembly.
Welding Standards & NDT
Mainframe welding is executed by certified welders following AWS D1.1 structural welding codes. 100% of critical structural welds undergo ultrasonic testing (UT) and magnetic particle inspection (MPI).
Thermal Stress Relieving
Welded frames are transferred to a gas-fired annealing furnace, heated to 600°C to 650°C, held for 8 hours, and furnace-cooled to eliminate residual stress and prevent micro-fracturing under cyclic loads.
Precision Machining
Large CNC floor boring and milling machines finish bearing housings, shaft bores, and jaw seatings in a single setup to ensure parallel alignment and prevent eccentric bearing wear.
Material Certification & Factory Testing (FAT)
All structural steel plates and forged shafts are supplied with full Material Test Reports (MTR). Every completed unit undergoes a 4-hour no-load running test where bearing temperatures, vibration signatures, and lubrication flow rates are recorded and archived in the quality control dossier. Manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001 quality management standards.
